FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Antique pump organ heading back home?

6/23/2007 - It's possible... The Wheeler Chapel Trust has come into possession (via the Merrimack Historical Society) of an antique pump organ that is alleged to have spent some of its life in the chapel. We will be working to get this instrument in playing shape as we verify its relationship to the building. Though it is not practical for the organ or the current space usage of the building to keep it at the chapel, it is safe and sound until we can determine a way to integrate it into the life of the chapel. Our thanks to Phyllis Heaney and the folks of the Merrimack Historical Society for making this connection.

Pictured below are the organ and its decorative headboard with intricate scroll work and beveled mirror.

The organ is a product of The Carpenter Company in Brattleboro, VT which is well known for the manufacture of these instruments. If anyone can contribute to our knowledge base of this antique please send to info@wheelerchapel.org or use any of the contact methods listed at the bottom of this page. Thanks!
